Finally got round to settling on a theme, and personalizing it. After trying several, I eventually settled on the Suffusion theme you see now, and those of you who have come here from David McMurdo’s blog may vaguely recognise it as being the same theme he uses on his site. It is a great theme, covers pretty much all options and makes it very easy to modify, most CSS changes can be done straight from the theme admin interface. Things like changing colours are a dawdle, instead of doing a mass-replace of colour references in the CSS file, you can just change the value of one box in the admin. I’ve made various tweaks to make it look as different as possible from David’s, after all, I’d hate to be thought as some sort of copy-cat, hanging on the coat-tails of a friends site. David has been good enough to link here, and to mention this site from time to time, but I doubt his audience is all that interested in what I have to say, especially when I post very rarely. In the end, I have to start creating content that will attract my own audience, and stop faffing around adjusting small visual details.

The main topic I’m going to be focusing on, is my custom fantasy world, currently dubbed zRPG. In a series of upcoming articles, I’m going to discuss each of the races within this world, their influences, cultures and physical appearance. These will be followed by further articles discussing different parts of the world, from nations to organizations to individuals. Another aspect of zRPG I’ll be discussing is the Browser-Based RPG I’m working on that will be based within the same fantasy world. This game is currently being developed in node.js (which is essentially server-side JavaScript) and using a MongoDB database. The game will be multiplayer, but the goal is to create an online game that is as close to a Pen & Paper Role-Playing experience as is possible, rather than making a “traditional” MMO or CRPG, so PVP and grinding will not be major focuses of the game.

Role-Playing Games (RPGs) in general are another topic I’ll likely bring up, as it’s my primary hobby at the moment,  so it’s very likely that I’ll end up talking about the various RPG campaigns I’m working on, or participating in. Any tips & tricks I may have to help other players or GM’s will be shared here, as well as any game aids / tools I develop for my own use. One such game aid I’m working on at the moment, is a party tracking sheet for D&D 4th edition, to take notes about the entire party’s current status. The group I’m currently with tend to assign one person in the party to keep track of the hit-points of everyone else, and distribute resources efficiently to those who really need it, which seems to work quite well. I found that the available sheets are more tailored to DM usage, so I set about designing a sheet specifically for party use.

As small detours from the above topics, I’m tempted to occasionally post reviews of Android Apps I’ve found useful, much like my post about the Zombie, Run! app I posted a while back. I seem to download, try, and uninstall quite a few apps each week, and occasionally I find some brilliant ones, so it’s worth sharing these finds with others. Apart from that, I’ll try to post whatever else I feel might interest people, as well as upload occasional photos/videos of interest.
